Non-public information
Non-public information can be included in our standard assessments by attaching our specific Non-Public Information Appendix, which is available for download on the Byggvarubedömningen website or can be created directly in the digital application. The supplier attaches the information themselves when submitting the application or when providing additional information. No additional cost or extended processing time applies when the assessment includes non-public information.
Who can see the information?
Non-public information is information that the supplier applying for the assessment provides as part of the assessment process. The information is not visible in the product database after publication and is only accessible to Byggvarubedömningen’s assessors.
If other attached documents are to be handled as non-public information, e.g. emission reports, the documentation must be tagged as such under the documentation type when submitting the application or attached together with the Non-Public Information Appendix if the information is provided by email. Only information marked with the non-public documentation type will be handled as non-public information and will not be published in the product database. It is the supplier’s responsibility to verify that all information has been handled according to the desired level of confidentiality when the assessment is returned to the supplier for review.
Non-Public Information from a Third Party
Non-public information may be submitted by a subcontractor, i.e. a third party. In such cases, the subcontractor completes the appendix and sends it by email to bedomning@byggvarubedomningen.se. The information is then added to the assessment by an administrator. It is important that the supplier who has submitted the application informs the third party of the BVBID number assigned to the assessment, so that the third party can complete the information in the appendix.
Who can see the information?
Non-public information from a third party is not disclosed to the supplier who submitted the application and is not displayed in the product database after publication. It is only accessible to Byggvarubedömningen’s assessors.
Please note that Byggvarubedömningen is not responsible for any damage or loss arising from or in connection with the use of either of these two alternatives.

Confidential Information disclosed under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA)
It is also possible to enter into a formal confidentiality agreement in cases where information can only be disclosed to Byggvarubedömningen on such terms. In such cases, a separate assessment with Non-disclosure agreement (NDA) must also be applied for.
Please note that, for the purposes of our assessment process, Byggvarubedömningen provides and uses its own NDA agreement. The NDA is entered into with the party that will provide the confidential information. The agreement must be signed by a person within the company who has the legal authority to enter into agreements on behalf of the company.
Who can see the information?
Confidential information is only accessible to Byggvarubedömningen’s designated assessors and administrators handling assessments with NDA. It will not be disclosed to the supplier who submitted the application and will not be displayed in the product database after publication.
All confidential information submitted to a assessments with NDA are handled through a separate, secure process, separate from our standard assessment procedures.

Please Note the Following:
- The documentation requirements under Miljöbyggnad are not fulfilled when information regarding substance content is handled as non-public or confidential.
- An assessment with NDA requires additional processing time and has a longer processing time than a standard assessment. We recommend applying for a confidential assessment well in advance, as discussions regarding the agreement and its terms may take time.
- An assessment with NDA incurs an additional fee. Please refer to our price list for additional services.
- Documents that are required by law to be made publicly available, such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS), cannot be treated as confidential or submitted as non-public assessment documentation. Each assessment requires a publicly available Building Product Declaration (BVD), which must be attached to the application. If any information is to be handled as non-public or confidential, that information must be omitted from the publicly available assessment documentation, such as the Building Product Declaration. Please note that Byggvarubedömningen encourages suppliers to provide as much public information as possible, for example by stating the function of substances, such as “pigment”, “plasticizer”, etc., in the publicly available Building Product Declaration.
- Classifications and listings cannot be treated as confidential or concealed when information is submitted as non-public. For example, if a product contains 0.5% of a substance classified as a skin sensitizer (H317) and 0.02% lead, information regarding classifications and listings will be displayed publicly as shown in the image below.
Revision of assessments containing Non-public or confidential Information
· If a substance included in non-public or confidential documentation is subject to an ATP or another reason requiring revision*, the revised version of the assessment will state the reason why a new version has been created.
*Reasons for revising an assessment may concern one or more substances for several reasons, for example if a substance receives a changed harmonized classification under CLP pursuant to an ATP or for another reason, if a substance is added to the Candidate List, if Byggvarubedömningen’s criteria regarding chemical content are updated, etc. Revisions may also be due to changes to one or more of Byggvarubedömningen’s life-cycle criteria.
